DOULA CERTIFICATION

Requirements

  1. Completion of Global Maternal Healthcare Coalition Doula Training OR documentation of equivalent training course

  2. Documentation of three birth doula experiences. Each birth documentation must include:

  • Birth record sheet

  • Client confidentiality form

  • Signed evaluation form from a healthcare professional or birthing mother

     2. Completed required reading (Choose 1)

  • Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the Newborn: The Complete Guide by Penny Simkin. 

  • Birth Partner 5th Edition by Penny Simkin. 

  • Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskin. 

     3. Reading synopsis and reflection

  • Name three key takeaways from the book. (Three paragraphs)

  • Reflect on how you feel this reading will affect your work as a doula. (Two paragraphs)

     4. Letters of recommendation

  • One relational recommendation from a friend or family member.

  • One professional recommendation from either a doula or midwife who has observed your learning.
